About the cover of The Tao Te Ching, a New English Translation with
Christian Meditations:
-
In eastern thought the moon is often seen as something far away and ungraspable
while at the same time illuminating the world. The moon is the mild side
of the sun, and in Isaiah 30:26 is seen as the prefigurment of the blazing
sunlight of the New Jerusalem. The landscape under the moon is subtle and
not harsh or imposing, which is how Lao Tzu describes his Tao or Way. Under
the moon a pathway is not completely distinct from the forest which surrounds
it, and as both Lao and Jesus point out, the Way is something we must look
for and discover as we live each day.
-
In The Tao Te Ching and the Christian Way
the fundamental path of morality and the spiritual life, East and West,
converge as we seek and little by little find the riches of the Way of
Life.
